Captain Planet Comes to Los Santos in GTA V Video

Intro to animated series recreated for your amusement.

If you were a kid in the nineties, there was only one place to go for heavy handed moral lessons about protecting the Earth from environmental destruction, the Saturday morning cartoon Captain Planet. A new video from YouTuber Merfish has recreated the cartoon's classic introduction using characters in Grand Theft Auto V.

It's pretty darn close to the source material, albeit with a bit of GTA flair as the re-cast Planeteers seem to call on the gifts of their rings with a flip of the bird. By their powers combined, they summon the closest thing Los Santos has to an unstoppable force of nature, Trevor, painted blue and clad in Captain Planet's signature midriff-exposing shirt and undies.

You can watch a side-by-side comparison of the original introduction and the recreation here.

This is far from Merfish's first foray into remaking television openers using GTA V. Their YouTube channel features more than a dozen such videos, including remakes of the intros to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The A-Team, Three's Company, and more.

Lol, very good! Flipping good, one might say.
But, was the narrator always so... lacklustre about it?

He sounds like he is on tranquilizers or sth!

...they are having way too much fun mixing old cartoon openings with GTA V.
I'd ask for an explanation, but I do realize that this is the Internet, and that's the best I can hope for.

Already been done IRL:

When they recreate SWAT Kats, lemme know. Then I might be a bit interested. However, they have such ridiculous weaponry, I believe it'd be better suited for the Saints Row universe than the GTA universe.

So what's with mother earth hating western europe and australia?

Very good, was laughing throughout the whole video :P
