Solve The Super Clues With Mutant City Blues

Solve The Super Clues With Mutant City Blues

Who did it? That's up to you to find out in a competition to solve the mystery in a new pen and paper role playing game, Mutant City Blues.

The lifeless body of Karen Das was found at 10:30 this morning by hotel cleaning staff at the Fiesta Holiday Casino on Dean Martin Drive. Das, 27, appeared as a contestant on this summer's GBC television reality series, Stir Crazy.

Mutant City Blues starts with a simple concept: Imagine if a "ghost flu" hit the world and within the next ten years, people started developing "powers." While the rest of the world has its own superpowered beings, your city is the Gotham or Metropolis of this new world.

The Police realize that they stand no chance against Supercriminals, so the government has offered jobs to all mutants as the elite Heightened Crime Investigation Unit. No spandex for you unless you want to practice your bullet soaking powers, though - this isn't the movies, bub.

As for the competition, Pelgrane Press has provided all of the clues needed to solve a despicable murder on the set of a quiz show. You simply need to tell them how it was done as well as who did it, but you'll have to do a bit of legwork to figure it out. You'll have to read through statements, pick up on clues of what powers have been used and dig the truth from the lies in the press reports.

You've got until March 1st to solve the crime. At stake is nearly $200 of role playing materials. Start sleuthing!

I got to say this looks like balls to the wall fun, i'd get it and yes i would pratice my bullet soaking powers

I have to search for clues in a blue city?

Good thing I have my handy-dandy...

Going to give it a crack on the weekend. :)

Where's my magic hand that shoots bees?

Where's my magic hand that shoots bees?

Just on the QUAID diagram under Insect Summoning and next to Hivemind.

This looks like lots of fun - Ive taken a look though and am confused!
Anyone care to share hypothesis?

I can't figure out:
- Why are Hayes' shoes involved? Just someone trying to set him up? Is the Megan Miller shoe thing a red herring tho?

- What could be the motive for the killing?
The possibilities I can see are a previously sacked employee (no evidence though), a relation of the dead Karen Das (again, I cant link any of the contestants to her though), or someone wanting to win the competition (but that seems to obvious?)

- What power was used to wrench the light fitting apart?

My thoughts so far.

Shoes are often a barrier to mutant powers and being usually made of leather might have some animal connections.

You still think it's a killing? I'd twiddle my Poirot moustache and say that all we have is a body...are we sure it's a killing?

And with the light fitting, are we so sure that it's a power?

I shall update my case notes as ideas come to me.

Good point about the 'killing' tho we also have a person missing...its possible we think the wrong person is dead...but that would mean the producer would need to have dissapeared (either teleported away, altered shape to match the real victim, or gone invisible...)

I've not heard of the shoes barrier before?!?

Most superpowers in comic books, and in games, don't work 'through' materials. Hulk shreds his clothes, Cyclops can't wear normal glasses if he's firing his optic blast etc. so...maybe the shoes were removed to use their powers?
