New Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Trailer Titillates

The latest trailer for Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 features more buttcracks than an international plumbing convention.

At this point, playing DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme for the volleyball (seriously, I know people who do this) is kind of like buying an icecream just for the cone. A cone definitely constitutes part of the transaction, yes, but let's not pretend that's why we're at this hypothetical ice cream shop. At 3am. In our underwear.

So yes, Xtreme 3 features a lot of lady flesh, and judging by this most recent trailer, a great deal of effort has been put into making said flesh jiggle and bounce with some degree of realism as the game's various girls do various non-volleyball-related things, including; sleeping on a bed, sleeping on a sunlounger, sitting around staring into space, vigorously scrubbing the lower half of a giant golden statue, etc. No wonder they're so shit at Volleyball. Their training regimen is rubbish.

On a more serious note, the trailer actually shows off some of the features of the new "owner mode," which adds a little more structure to the game by letting you play as the owner of Zack island. As owner, you'll have to work hard to keep the girls "satisfied" and supplied with a constant stream of skimpy underwear. Satisfy them enough and you'll unlock bonus items and get the opportunity to peek on them while they change clothes. You know, typical management stuff.

Those of you following the game will no doubt be aware that DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme 3 will not be getting an official release in the west. That being said, the Asia release will have full English subtitles and can be imported with little difficulty.

The game launches March 24th for PS4 and Vita.

I would also like to remind anyone still upset about the lack of this game getting a proper release in the west, whether it's for personal or philosophical reasons or what-have-you, you can still support the developer by buying one of the four $94 USD season passes for the PS4/Xbox One editions Dead or Alive 5 Last Round. If you're on Steam, any one of the many DLC packs that start at $19 USD and combined come out to about $548.86. And if you just want videos of the ladies lounging around, you'll have to get the tropical paradise and movie set which is $65. And that's on top of the game's $40 price tag. The PC version is also a port of the PS3 version so expect lesser skin and bounce effects compared to the PS4/Xbox One versions. Also the lack of the new maps added in the current-gen re-release.

Again, just want folks to stay informed about the many, many ways you can support Team Ninja and Koei-Tecmo games after their brutal run-in with all the censorship.

Haha, it's a running joke at this point.

I'm just waiting to see when they make this VR compatible and eventually drop the pretense of them wearing clothes and not eating bananas...

Do they make the actual fighting game any more? Probably for the best considering how DlC happy the last one was. I guess people will put down all sorts of money for titties, pixlated or not. Do they not know porn is essentially available for free these days? I mean, how is there a paying audience for this? More money than sense i guess.

Porn is readily available, porn games are not. My guess is this is something slightly different where they can control the individual and such. Anything different is novel and in a world where "if it exists, there's porn of it" then something different isn't gag worthy popular.

Frankly, I think there should be porn games. Not that I'd care or use them, but our ridiculous notion that games are only for kids simply isn't true anymore and it's time for us to get with the times.

I'll declaring Bayonetta Protocol! This game is officially not sexists because I'm declaring it not sexists because as a player I'm imparting my agency to them. So all these ladies now have full agency and control over the situation. Therefore not sexist!

And no volleyball whatsoever in this trailer.

This looks so bad. So, so, SO bad...!

...I must own it...

The series nobody gave a crap about since, the PS2(?), is coming back.

Because of a fake controversy for controversy sake.

Now now, don't lie to me...i've see the indie market's offerings. ;) Ok, maybe not as high production values, but they are plentiful enough to find every time one takes a look for anything whatsoever.

I wonder if they are still too scared to give the game a western release?

Oh Japan...never stop being yourself!

I mean...the definition on that ass-crack, though....

If you're playing volleyball in this game then you're doing it wrong.

According to the Wiki, the latest version of DoA5 came out less than a year ago.[1]

It was never true in the first place. Even back in the 80's there were video games made specifically to be placed in bars. Not exactly a venue where you'd place something that's just meant for kids. The notion that video games are just for kids is based purely on the perspectives of sheltered parents/grandparents who don't know much outside of their own little world (and that group is a larger portion of the population than you might care to admit), and have only known video games as something that their children play.

[1] Oof... though it's barely less than a year ago. Gotta get use to the fact that it's 2016 now.

The game isn't being sold in the West and will only be available in Japan and South East Asia. One of Koei-Tecmo's community managers made a Facebook post that it wasn't being localized in the West for fear of feminist backlash. Koei-Tecmo did later retract that statement and gave out a standard PR blurb instead. Whether the game not being localized is due to it being projected to not sell enough in the West or due to feminists creating an environment of fear where Japanese developers have decided to not localize anything risque due to potential backlash is up to you. PlayAsia, an importer of Japanese games and other products did capitalize on this whole kerfuffle by offering imports to the West of the South East Asia version of the game, which does include English translations of the menus and UI.

Probably never with the 2nd one. I should know, I'm a huge Senran Kagura fan. Japan is a walking talking paradox in the game world. They're responsible for some of the most risque and sexually cartoonish (or cartoonishly sexy?) games on the market, and yet if one actual nipple is shown, it might as well have "sales failure" slapped right on the box for how many places they'd be able to sell it in.

Irridium:
Snip

...What. The. FUCK!? Well that developer just made it to my "douchebag" list. Move over EA, you got competition.

$94 for a shitbox looking game like this? No fuckin' thanks. Anyone buying should be ashamed, the pricing of this game is the whole reason the gaming industry sucks more than it ever has.

Jokes on you! I sometimes do buy ice cream for the cone!! It's the best part of having ice cream on a cone!!!

Other than that, since I'm not made of money, I'm still not going to get this until, at least, my g-string is made out of money... :P

Salt mining. The technique is called salt mining. It was also used to great effect by a company called Protein World during their 'Are you beach body ready?' advertising campaign. Not to mention every single last social justice warrior and anti social justice warrior electronic beggar currently polluting the internet with their ideologically-driven oratorical masturbation.

"Salt mining?"... Wow. That is a fantastic name.

Hey, I'm all for it. Gotta put all the forced memes and infighting to SOME good use.

hehe, titillating

sadly, I'm gonna skip this since no console here, otherwise I might have taken it from someone for a spin

What I don't get is why this game isn't just coming to PC where it would potentially get millions of purchases compared to the piddly few thousand it'll receive on ps4 which is going to be even further reduced due to the lack of a western release.

All they really have to do is release the dev tools like Bethesda does... modders the world round will take it from there and they don't even have to acknowledge them as anything they've produced.

Thanks for the round up. Sorry if I misled, I was very familiar with the intricacies of this particular story - I was just using rhetoric to draw out the point that there is no false controversy. There is absolutely a substantive basis for this controversy, which has not been misrepresented. So I was severely objecting to the original poster's assertion. On this basis:

A Koei employee confirmed that this was due to "cultural sensitivies".

This is in line with other censorship we have seen in recent months, which suggests that there has been a regressive, illiberal culture shift which does indeed have feminist agitators and the gaming press as its very root.

Play Asia capitalise on the issue, but in doing so, support gamers and the right for developers to openly express themselves without fear of moral condemnation.

Social Justice Lunatics attempt to deflect from the result of their authoritarianism by concocting a conspiracy theory that this is all just a PR stunt to boost interest in the game.

When it becomes clear that this is not the case, they then take to attacking Play Asia for daring to side with the developers, and more so, begin suggesting that the Koei staff is a liar and that the real, super secret reason that the game isn't being released in the west is because of sales figures. This is completely and utterly dispelled by the available sales figures of the series, which shows the games sell better in the west.

Shuhei Yushida effectively confirms that Japanese developers now view the west as if it were the Middle East.

So yes. A very real controversy.

This 'both sides are as bad as the other' and these conspiracy theories that companies are devising these ingenious plans, are beyond tedious.

What happens is that a company does something that the new moral majority, third wave feminists (formerly the religious right) don't like. The company is inundated with abuse, threats and outright calls for the company to boycotted and ruined.

This is typically the part where the company will be terrified and beaten into acquiescing, providing an unqualified and full apology, whilst begging not to be destroyed.

Lately however, some companies have had the balls to say 'Actually, no. Fuck you and your morality policing - we won't be bullied by sanctimonious zealots, we've done nothing wrong'. And they've found people willing to stand up for those principles.

Then come the armchair analysts, such as yourself, who have a sort of vague interest in the matter whilst tutting and rolling your eyes. But fortunately for us, you guys have enough interest to tell us 'They're all as bad as each other! It's all a mess!'

Such insight! Such a meticulous break down of the situation! Or not. You're entitled to your opinion, but you should try and make it informed.

Their faces have all the lack of expression and uncanniness of a blow up doll, but I guess they're marketing to the same audience.
Really though I can't put my finger on what it is, but it's bothering me more than the obvious but not so obvious selling factor of the series.

What's happening with their faces in comparison to their bodies? Is it because the bodies are supposed to be more realistic, while the faces have a more anime-esc style them? What's going on here? I don't understand.

Team Ninja needs to stop putting all their budget into perfecting jiggle physics and hire some better modelers or at least stylistically consistent ones, it might not happen often, but sometimes the camera pans higher than the boobs.

Yyyeeeah, that's bothering me too. None of the characters, save Maria, even look like themselves. That picture of Ayane on the bed straight up pisses me off with how bizarre and OoC her features are.

EDIT: I've decide to move this somewhere else because its kind of off-topic here.

Just a reminder, if you hear that this isn't getting released due to backlash raise an eyebrow. If you hear that it's not getting released due to bad sales numbers, know that that is a giant lie.

OT: Yum.

Considering the weird ghetto that Japanese PC games are only just now trying to break out of, it will probably be years before we see something on the level of Bethesda mod tools in a Japanese game. Even now most of those pc ports we are getting of Japanese games seems to be due to the appeal of cheaply exporting the game to the West without dealing with physical media. Something like Xenoblade X with Bethesda tools or a Fire Emblem game with XCom 2's script source code tools would be great for a lot more than just plausible deniability on the inevitable nude mods. Little more than a pipe dream at this point though, consoles would have to make modding possible or PC gaming would have to become a much more direct market for Japanese devs before something like that would have even a chance of happening.

So it's literally just a soft core porn game then?

Whelp, looks like I won't have to wait around for reviews about the mini-games to not worry about putting money away.

Chriss_m:
begin suggesting that the Koei staff is a liar

Which is worse than suggesting that Koei's official statement on the situation and the producer (who said long before that community manager said anything that the game wasn't being localised due to demand) is also a liar.

So we've got a situation where the official statements of the company and the lead producer contradict one employee, who isn't even on the dev team, and they are the lies? So you believe everyone at Koei is lying and then call others conspiracy theorists?

and that the real, super secret reason that the game isn't being released in the west is because of sales figures.

Super secret? Did you miss the interview from months before the community manager opened his mouth? You know, the one where the lead producer said the game wasn't being localised due to projected sales not justifying it?

Yeah.

I could sort of see the skeezy appeal of this game if the characters didn't look like plastic femdroids. It's like Team Ninja is still stuck in the PS1 era, and just upped the polygon count each new generation and nothing else.

But yet! Shockingly! It is available in English!

But hey! Maybe you're right about the press release, which are notoriously sanitised, in spite of the series' sale figures and in spite of the complete translation. So link the interview you're talking about so we can build a chronology and really explore your version of events.
