Best Buy Will Be Restocking the NES Classic on December 20, but Only in Stores

Just in time for Christmas, Best Buy will be restocking the NES Classic, but only in retail stores.

If you've been trying to pick up the NES Classic, you know that it's been facing some supply issues. Yesterday, Best Buy sent out a promotional email announcing that it would be restocking the much-sought-after console in its stores "tomorrow."

Don't go rushing off to your local Best Buy just yet, though. It turns out that the email was actually sent prematurely. The company has since sent out a clarification (you can see this below, via Nintendo Everything), confirming that the devices will be available on December 20.

Of course, quantities will be limited. Furthermore, the units will not be available online - you'll have to hit a retail store if you want one. Finally, they're going to be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, so I'd recommend getting there early.

If you're hoping to grab the NES Classic for Christmas, this might be your last chance to get one without paying an exorbitant amount for it.

Yay! So that means my local BB will be getting whopping 3 more consoles!

Git Fucked. xP

Really getting tired of Nintendo's marketing policy of engineered rarity. Pretty easy to make headlines of "NES Classic Sells Out In Minutes!" to make your product seem like the most desired thing on the market when you only make 10 of the god damn things.

At this point, who cares? Nintendo treats its customers with such open contempt I find it hard to root for anything they do anymore.

I think only 10% of us don't think like this. The sad thing is its only NoA that pulls this crap.

Hey, just because Nintendo produces way too few of a product that has actual gameplay ramifications, doesn't end enough stock of products to even come close to meeting demand, and screws over any Youtuber who dares make a video using their games doesn't make them anti consumer.

It's funny, now that I think about it. What if that shiny new NES Classic doesn't work? I bought a PS4 at launch that died within an hour. I went back to Gamestop the next morning and they replaced it without incident. If your store only has 3 and sells them out immediately, you can't really replace a dud.

If I know Nintendo, and I'm a pessimist so I like to think I do, their official response to a bricked NES Classic would be "Fuck you, got mine. Also fork over $500 for us to replace it. And buy Amiibos."

I think the 5 o clock news would love a story about one of the biggest toys of this season being broken and it's company refusing to replace/fix them.

Nintendo has the easy spin of "wWell we just sold way more of them than we ever anticipated and are completely out of stock to replace it. We'll replace it as soon as we can" That'll appease the news cycle for the all of 3 hours until the story is never mentioned again, and Big N walks off laughing.

I think refusing to replace/fix something so new would get a lot of people watching the news and Nintendo just brushing it off like that would make the news station just want to continue so they could get ratings.

Either way I doubt it would happen. My 3DS broke 2 months after I got it and Nintendo fixed it for free. I think you get a one year warranty on all their products.

....surprising absolutely no one.

Screw Nintendo and their idiotic practice of repackaging old games in shiny, new nostalgic packages and then having the fucking gall to charge people for what their parents already paid hundreds of dollars for back in the day (or if you got in at that golden time when Super Nintendo was at it's peak, fifteen bucks at a garage sale).

I'll just keep playing my original and *ahem* using other means...to play NES games...

Oh Nintendo.

You truly love pooping on your customer base, don't you?

Why would you want this over an emulator and a USB NES controller?
