Nvidia Shows Off Mass Effect: Andromeda 4K Screens, PC Graphics Options

If you're wondering how Mass Effect: Andromeda will look in 4K, or what graphics options you'll have on PC, Nvidia has the answers you seek.

With Mass Effect: Andromeda less than two weeks away, we're getting more and more information on the game and what we can expect from it. Yesterday, Nvidia jumped into the fray, bringing not only a handful of 4K PC screens, but showing off the graphics settings you'll have access to in the PC version of the game.

Andromeda is built on the Frostbite engine, so if you've played Battlefield 1, you'll likely have an idea what the graphics options will look like. You can see some screenshots of the in-game settings menu in the gallery below, but the available settings include the following:

  • Ambient Occlusion
  • Anti-Aliasing
  • Chromatic Aberration
  • Effects Quality
  • Film Grain
  • Lighting Quality
  • Mesh Quality
  • Post-Process Effect Quality
  • Resolution Scaling
  • Shader Quality
  • Shadow Quality
  • Terrain Quality
  • Texture Filtering Quality
  • Texture Quality
  • Vegetation Quality

In its blog post, Nvidia says that those who are playing Andromeda on a "HDR television, or a G-SYNC HDR monitor, can enable the best implementation of HDR seen to date on PC with one flick of a switch in the Video menu."

Of course, to enable all of that graphical wizardry, you'll need to make sure your computer can handle it. While the system requirements for Mass Effect: Andromeda were revealed last month, Nvidia does say that to "crank those 16 options to their maximum levels, or run at higher resolutions with higher framerates," you'll need to step up your GPU.

Finally, to show off the game, Nvidia included four screenshots (4K resolution at max settings) of Andromeda. These screens were captured using Nvidia Ansel, and have had no post-processing or Photoshopping done. Of course, Ansel can capture and render screens at resolutions up to 63,360 x 35,640, so you may not be able to get your game to look exactly like these shots. You can find them in the gallery below (click to zoom to full size).

Mass Effect: Andromeda is releasing March 21 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

I want an equally thorough breakdown of its performance and settings list on Xbox One.

And by 'thorough breakdown' I mean: rock solid 30/fps - YES or NO...

Funny though, if you look at the first picture, the characters, weapon and animal and building looks awesome, and then you see those rocks, and then you just cringe....

Apparently the recommended requirements (GTX 1060, 8GB RAM, i7 4790) are for 30FPS, High, 1080p

Will be interested to see what Ultra, 60FPS will need.

Pretty much this. Texture quality seems to be a very mixed bag to say the least.
