Bethesda Plans to Have a PC Patch for Prey's Game-Breaking Bugs this Week

If you've been crashing in Prey, you'll be glad to hear that Bethesda is planning to release a patch later this week to address those issues.

Prey has been receiving quite a bit of praise from players, but some folks playing on PC have been running into issues. Reports of crashes and corrupted saves have popped up, and Bethesda is taking steps to address those soon.

In a post on the Bethesda.net forums community manager jurassica says that the company is "looking to release a Steam Beta Update that should fix the crashes some of you are experiencing that may or may not have corrupted your saves."

Also planned for this patch are "a few other fixes we will share when we release the patch notes along with the beta when it is live." The post also says that once the company knows that the beta update is "good to go," the patch will be rolled out on console "shortly after."

Bethesda asks that if you are still experiencing issues, to please report them on the forums. Let us know how Prey is running for you, and what you think of the new game, in our forums!

Hopefully it fixes the whole weapons vanishing. Randomly loosing my shotgun and gloo gun killed any hope of continuing that char til its fixed.

So much for the PC port being good this time, eh Arkane?

Fortunately, I haven't had any issues with it at all. This is the first I've heard of anyone experiencing issues.

So this explains the lack of PC review copies for this game. Always a concern with any game release.

In other news, a buggy wrecked mess of a game being released by Bethsoft? I am shocked and appalled.

Say it isn't so!

It's actually surprisingly good. Quick saving is a must right now, and my Gloo Cannon sometimes disappears, but aside from that, the game runs flawlessly on the highest settings, and I'm not using high-tier gear for my rig.

The port is worse, there's no real arguing there - but only in relative terms, as it runs better than most ports I've played; even better if they successfully fix whatever is causing all of the CTDs.

its weird these days with games its best not to pre order or buy on release day. its beginning to get annoying having to wait a month after release for the game to be patched up to standard
