New Resident Evil 3 Remake Trailer. Nemesis himself revealed.

Also, GOOD FUCKING LORD THAT HUNTER!!!

What is it about this that made me go "This is stupid" in ways that the RE2 demos and trailers didn't? I'm getting RE6 flashbacks...

Probably because it's al taking place on the streets, there's a lot of quick cuts, military dudes with flank jackets, and a monster man with a ridiculously huge weapon. And also, all we're shown of Nemesis is what appears to be scripted jumpscares. I'm not too sure how I feel about Nemesis' big flamethrower.

Anyway, the characters look pretty great, and nothing in this trailer feels out of line with the original RE3, so I'm not worried about it yet. Though I can't say it got me that much more excited either.

Oh, and I noticed Capcom still can't kick the habit of having their indestructable, bio-weapon stalkers grab the hero and throw them, instead of grabbing them and instantly snapping their neck or crushing their skull.

God damn it, they still can't get the "STARS" right. :(

Amount of action, scripted sequences, and that the Nemesis now has a flamethrower?

I'll be honest, I'm iffy after this trailer as well. Looks a bit too actiony for my tastes, and seems to be significantly diverging from RE3. And that isn't bad in of itself - I mean, 3 is the most action heavy of the original trilogy, but still...

Y'all worry too much. RE was always goofy, and this version of 3 is no different from what we've seen in the original. At the end of the day, Nemesis was the Terminator with actual meat (no metal exoskeleton), and Jill Valentine became Sarah Conner. This game just makes it even more obvious. Nemesis with the flamethrower? Bad-fucking-ass. A rocket launcher or mini-gun is grounded, but a flamethrower is too silly? Cry me a river.

Yeah guys, Resident Evil 3 has always been the more action-packed of the games. Then again that Hunter did looked terrifying.

Did you not see that Hunter in the trailer? I am scared of going in that Hospital Part of the game now even if I am armed with an M4A1 Fully Automatic.

As for Nemesis himself, well we all know who and what Nemesis is and is capable of. It all depends on how much he can cause you stress and anxiety if you stalks you at all times.

Admittedly a flamethrower isn't that different from a rocket launcher or minigun. On the other hand, I'm left to ask why Nemesis needs a close-range weapon like a flamethrower at all when he has tentacles and his sheer strength. The minigun/rocket launcher have a rationale in that they're ranged.

Granted, nitpicking.

Yes. I'm not that intimidated considering that I'm facing it with an automatic weapon.

Hunters were at their most intimidating in the RE1 Remake IMO - combination of camera angles, single shot weapons, and that the damn things can duck shots and do those leaping attacks.

The thing is that I don't want this Nemesis to just be a set piece monster, who shows up only for a bunch of scripted sequences to happen where you dodge his flame attacks or whatever. The rocket launcer in the original was Nemesis at his least scary too. He was at his best when he was charging toward you from off screen to get close and personal. He was also way faster then you; you could run, but if you didn't get to a door quickly enough he would knock the shit out of you.

I highly doubt Nemesis is going to be a set piece monster for the most part. This is Nemesis, not Ustinak. RE3 had many scripted moments with Nemesis depending on the choices you made, even with him appearing randomly being a game changing moment. I'm not sure if they're going to implement that same choice system, but we will wait and see. Besides, Nemesis' AI is supposed to be better than Mr. X's, so you will get what you want. Worst case scenario, he's slightly smarter than Mr. X. I have some concerns, but I am not going to let it completely blind my enjoyment.

A flamethrower can be used to set alite a building to "smoke out" anyone hiding in it. Nemesis clearly doesn't care about fire so it introduces a hazard that it can ignore while its targets can't.

I read somewhere that they are going to make it significantly more action-heavy. I know resident evil 3 was more action-orientated than 2 anyway, but I hope they don't lose the planning your route and puzzle-solving elements in the process of making this and make it more like RE4-6. I would not be pleased.
