Vikings: Valhalla Release Date and First-Look Images Revealed

Netflix revealed its long list of “genre” content coming to the streamer in 2022 today, and it’s a wealth of nerdy goodness. There’s a bunch of new exciting shows on the list including The Witcher: Blood Origins, Resident Evil, The Sandman, and animated series Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, but the biggest news is a release date and new images for the hotly anticipated Vikings: Valhalla. Netflix revealed Vikings: Valhalla, a sequel to Vikings, will land with a February 25, 2022 release date and dropped the below slew of what it calls “first look” images, even though we’ve already kind of had a first look.

Vikings: Valhalla is set 100 years after the first series, which gained quite a following when it came to streaming. The show follows a bit more famous set of Vikings this time around as it focuses on Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter). The series will tell the story of a time when Vikings and the English are battling regularly, and our three heroes set out on an adventure that will take them far and wide.

Aside from Vikings: Valhalla, Netflix announced the release date for genre content through the end of February. The supernatural horror series Archive 81 will land on January 14, the spy-actioner In From the Cold will land on January 28, and the second season of Raising Dion will land on February 1. Then throughout the rest of the year Netflix will be dropping a slew of other content to watch. These include the four aforementioned shows, as well as the second season of Alice in Borderland, zombie series All of Us Are Dead, vampire show First Kill, the third season of Locke & Key, an animated Magic: The Gathering series, horror series The Midnight Club, Stranger Things 4, and the third season of The Umbrella Academy. There are also two video game-based series coming as well with The Cuphead Show! and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Netflix says even more genre content is incoming, so stay tuned.
