Vikings: Valhalla Trailer Strikes Ahead of February Netflix Premiere

It’s about to get far more bearded on Netflix. Vikings: Valhalla, the spin-off / sequel series to the popular Vikings, has dropped a teaser trailer revealing more about the upcoming series set one hundred years after the original. With a focus on the downfall of Viking culture, this new series will follow Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).

The Vikings: Valhalla teaser trailer focuses on the show’s clash between Vikings and the British as war is set to break out between the two. The series is known for its creative takes on history, mixing fact with fiction, to make great television. The show will also delve into the cultural changes within the Viking kingdom as the Norse beliefs and Christianity begin to come into conflict. Freydis Eriksdotter should play a major role here as she is a Norse religious leader.

Bradley Freegard (King Canute), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Olaf Haraldsson), Caroline Henderson (Jarl Haakon), Laura Berlin (Emma of Normandy), David Oakes (Earl of Godwin), Louis Davison (Prince Edmund), Bosco Hogan (King Aethelred II), Asbjørn Krogh Nissen (Jarl Kåre), Pollyanna McIntosh (Aelfgifu of Northampton), and Soren Pilmark (King Sweyn Forkbeard) also star in the upcoming series, which is executive produced by Michael Hirst and Jeb Stuart, who created the six-season original series. Stuart is acting as showrunner on the show, which has a surprisingly big 24-episode order from Netflix, though this first season will only have eight episodes running one hour each.

Vikings: Valhalla will drop on Netflix on February 25.
